Family Vacation Fun in Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach turned out to be one of our favorite vacation spots. The campsites were clean, grassy, comfortable, spacious and near everything. We could walk to the pier, the beach, or downtown or just stay put. This is, what has turned out to be an annual family campout (our third) and we are all loving it. So far we have gone to Yosemite (wow!), Pt. Mugu State Park and Pismo Beach. Here are some fun ideas while family camping:
Meals Always a highlight of any trip. This year we opted to assigned each family
group one dinner and one breakfast to prepare. They planned, shopped and cooked that meal. Another family group would do the cleanup. Shish-kabobs, baked apples, salads, french toast, hamburgers, hot dogs and of course s'mores were all on the menu.
Activities A large variety of activities were available but we also included some of our own. Kite flying (always a favorite), hand sand casting (see Sand Casting Post of 8 Aug 2008), Kelp Jump-roping, hiking, puffy-painting water-proof treasure boxes, campfires, playing games, horseshoes and frisbee on the beach, fishing, Sand Surfing, and all of the waterplay we could desire.

Sandsurfing: You'll need a decent sand dune and a bogie board you don't mind using on the sand. Then have a blast!
