Teenagers gain ways of responsibility just as an adult learns ways of being responsible; being responsible is not a lesson or lecture as they have in their school classes. Responsibility comes with living and learning by life’s experiences such as when we want to purchase something we must save and if we break into the savings, we are not able to get whatever it is we are want to purchase. Teaching how to save money is important. It is also important to teach them not to touch the savings until they intend to use it all.
Parents must understand our teenagers learn how to be responsible by watching our ways as a parent and how we are presenting our tactics to things; it all boils down to how the parents act with responsibility. Most teens will mimic how their parents act rather than do what they are told to verbally. It not what they are told they should or should not do, in today’s society our teens are learning by what the see us as the adults are doing. Responsibility is acting appropriately to any given situation such as when they are offered drugs; the appropriate reaction should be to say no.
When a teens has an environment of no consequences for inappropriate behavior they will gain little if no responsibility and sadly this leads to our teens drinking and driving, doing drugs and often death we read and see these stories in the media almost every day.
