We celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary today.
Over the years our children have watched as we commemorated our wedding day. They saw how we cared for each other by sending cards, or flowers, or spending quiet time together, or having an all-out party. However we celebrated, they were all eyes and ears. As youngsters, they just knew that Mommy and Daddy were spending a special evening together. But as they got older they watched with different eyes. Eyes questioning, eyes twinkling, somewhat knowing how important this ritual was. Eyes dreaming of the day they too would have something special to celebrate. They were taking notes. They wanted to know how to celebrate a special day. They wanted the security of knowing how we still cared for each other. They wanted to give us that little bit of special time together. I hope we taught them well.
We celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary today.
